I just completed my Flightbox and EMS install, and during my last runup test, 2 Ferrules (Fuel and MAP) came loose from the socket. This, on top of getting the crimps right, seems a bit frustrating. I used the e1008 1.0mm. Is that the correct size for the connectors on the EMS? I didn’t see a size referenced in the install guide.
I had the same issue. I ended up cutting them off, stripped each wire, hit it with acid free soldering paste, then tinned each wire with 60/40 rosin core solder. To help stiffen the jackets, each wire has a heat shrink tube label. Looks and works great.
BTW - I mounted a terminal block (as recommended by Steven) to terminate all of the 12V, 5V and grounds.
Last comment: regarding grounds - when connecting FDC(37 pin connector) using RS232 on pins 4 23 and GND to the EMS it (the EMS) would not connect. I disconnected the ground pin at the EMS and the instant I removed it the it worked perfectly. (no clue why). I was thinking all of the grounds should be the same potential???
We have a great product here and I am very happy with mine (still working on getting my Ray Allen trim values to display) … but VERY pleased. Let’s all continue to support and promote this product.

I have to chalk this up to a learning experience. I was talking to builder putting together a Long Easy and he walked me through what he found… It seems like my issue was the crimp tool. Once I made the same adjustments it all worked great.
I, too, added the power and ground blocks. I made a shelf behind my panel, put the flight computer on top of it, and mounted the EMS to the bottom. This way, it’s not that hard to get to from underneath.
So far, I really like how the system came together. It took a bit to get all the sensors working how I wanted. The only thing that I need to figure out on my phase 1 install is getting the fuel gauges to handle the sloshing better. I have a BD-4 with no camber to the wing, so the fuel moves around in the tanks a lot.
My next phase in the project is installing my G5 and Gamgin autopilot along with the landing coach laser. That is a good winter task, as the hanger is still way too hot for all-day projects here in Florida.
